Following the success of Millward Place in Birmingham, the second of Bromford’s specially designed MyPlace schemes has now opened its doors. Samuel Place in Redditch offers adults with a learning disability the opportunity to live independently in their own home.

The scheme has 14 self-contained one-bedroom apartments which have been specifically designed to provide a safe and secure long-term home for people living with a disability.

MyPlace manager, Catherine Ashley said: “There’s a real need for accommodation like this so it’s really exciting to see Samuel Place ready to help people with a disability or Autism take control of their life and make the most of any opportunities that may be available to them.

“There will be a housing enabler from Bromford on site for up to 18 hours a week to help customers with tenancy, benefit and general support issues including organising repairs and managing visitors. As well as the housing help offered by Bromford, care and support will be provided to customers by Dimensions and this will vary depending on individual needs.

“Our one bedroom apartments are specially designed to provide a happy, safe and secure home for people with long-term conditions. You’ll have your own front door and the freedom to live your life the way you want to. If you like to mix with other people, Samuel Place also has a community hub with a lounge, meeting room and kitchen providing a social area for you to get to know your neighbours.

“With the increased need for specialist accommodation for people with long-term needs, work is already underway on three other sites with land acquired for four further MyPlace schemes to be built on in the near future. Exciting stuff for everyone concerned – not least the customers whose lives will be enhanced thanks to their new-found independence.”

"This is an excellent idea and I believe it is the first of its kind in Worcestershire. This is a truly great way forward for those wanting independent living, and at the same time giving support for those who need it – I thoroughly commend it."
