Bromford is today celebrating the news that it has been announced as a finalist in the prestigious National Business Awards.

Midlands-based Bromford has been shortlisted in the ‘Social Enterprise of the Year’ category, going up against organisations including Big Issue Invest, Everyclick and Vision Housing Consultancy Services.

Transforming itself from a traditional housing association into a social business, Bromford aims to inspire people to be the very best they can be and change lives. Underpinning helping customers to be self reliant is the Bromford Deal, a radical change, a ‘something for something’ approach.

Introduced a year ago, the Deal promises customers not only a great home and a range of landlord services but now crucially works with all new customers to support their aspirations to get into work and volunteering, to help improve their financial capacity and contribute to improved health and wellbeing; in return customers are asked to be great tenants and, crucially, to give something back to society by taking part in the new opportunities or helping others.

Commenting on the announcement, Nick Cummins Executive Director for Bromford said: "The Bromford Deal has revolutionised our relationship with customers and is a massive change in both the service offer we make to them and the expectations we have in return. It is already having an enormous impact on the quality of their lives. To date we have signed up over 2,500 tenants and the Deal will be available to every one of our 25,000 customer in future.”

Judges said: “Bromford Group has clear alignment of well-articulated values defined by colleagues with bold and commercial business objectives; plus strong, creative leadership focused on ground breaking innovation aiming to revolutionise the traditional social housing model to engage more effectively with customers focused on changing their lives with training, jobs and homes.”

Finalists will now prepare for live presentations at the Crowne Plaza, London, on 12 September with winners being announced at the National Business Awards gala dinner on 12 November at Grosvenor House, London.
