New faces for Bromford comms team

Bromford, one of the UKs leading affordable housing and specialist support providers, has bolstered its communication team with two new management level hires.

Dan Baldwin will be joining the social business as Digital Marketing Manager, alongside Annabel Salter who be taking on the role of PR Manager.  As part of the changes, the team has also seen the hire of two web content managers to ensure Bromford stay relevant to the new 'digital native' attitude of its customers. Current Communications Manager Alex Abbotts will be taking on the newly created role of Head of Communications.

Annabel joins the housing business from Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, where she was previously communications manager leading on all internal and external communications for the £170million re-development of Walsall Manor Hospital. With a host of awards to her name including being shortlisted in the Public Sector category at the Marketing Week Engage Awards 2011 and Gold for Best Event in the CIPR Midlands Awards (working with PR Agency Seal), Annabel was integral in a radical change of communications policy for the trust. With stints in PR at British Waterways, Network Rail, University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (working on the Queen Elizabeth Hospital redevelopment), Annabel has a wealth of experience in the in-house environment, and will be using this to push Bromford's new digital by default strategy forward. 

Dan Baldwin is Bromford's first SEO specialist, arriving from Bluecube Communications where he advised the likes of Meccano, National Express and Westland Garden Centres on website optimisation, as well as helping bluechip clients to maximise web budgets to benefit from changes to digital platforms. Prior to that Dan spent seven years with the UK's leading online broker of office space, as the Head of Applied SEO Ontology, working to apply web insight and SEO to's online presence to boost their reputation internationally.

Head of Communications Alex Abbotts said the two hires marked a significant change in the way Bromford's communications team operated. "Bromford are moving from a traditional offering of pr and web and looking to future proof the comms operation. We want to be fully self reliant and completely in-house, with our design, video and communications specialists boasting a broad range of skills."

The reshaping of the team comes as part of a wider shift in the group with saw five new communications posts filled through an innovative and award winning recruitment campaign; #gottalovecake. Taking gold for this campaign at the HR Directors award in the Recruitment category, the team have also seen communications specialist Jarrod Williams shortlisted for a PR Moment Golden hedgehog Award in the in-house young communicator category, for his work on Bromford's welfare reform communications, response to "work programme" criticism and pushing innovation for the business' digital communications strategy.
