Bromford Support Daventry, one of Northamptonshire's leading support providers, has been chosen by a local Waitrose store to receive a grant of up to £1000 as part of the supermarket's 'Community Matters' initiative.

The £1000 community grant will be split between Bromford and two other good causes, with customers of the Waitrose store able to choose which charity they'd like give their share of the grant to.

Working with a range of local people who require extra support including the homeless, young families and adults with learning difficulties, Bromford aim to use their share of the grant to run a number of customer involvement activities.

Customers can vote for their chosen good cause by collecting a green token when they're at the checkout and then placing it in the box of the good cause they'd most like to support. The more tokens a cause gets, the bigger the donation they receive.

Bromford was nominated by Karen Clarke, a Support Worker in the Bromford Daventry team. She said, "we're really excited to have been chosen by the store, the grant will have a massive impact on the kind of activities we can offer our customers."

"We help a wide range of people who have so many different stories to tell, some who have learning difficulties and need assistance in their home, or others who need advice and support after having problems at home. Ultimately we want all our customers to be able to live independently, and we do whatever we can to help them achieve that."

When the final donations are announced, Bromford will let those who use their support services decide what kind of events to hold. Karen says, "As soon as we know how much of the £1000 we will be receiving, we will ask customers to vote and give ideas on what they would like to do and as long as this is reasonable we'll go from there."

To vote for Bromford, visit Waitrose Daventry and place your green token in the box labelled 'Bromford Support'.

Bromford Support are also set to launch their #HiddenStories campaign in the coming weeks, helping people in Northants learn more about neighbours who need extra support and tell the inspirational stories found behind their community's closed doors.
