Everyone is feeling the pinch following public funding cuts and the question for us was: “How can we do things differently to meet both funding restrictions and the needs of vulnerable individuals?”

MyPlace is that solution.

The innovative MyPlace model, thought to be the first of its kind in England, has been specifically designed with both the customers’ and commissioners’ needs in mind.

Designed for commissioners

The aim of MyPlace is about raising aspirations by providing someone with a learning disability or mental health needs the chance to take control of their life, live independently, harness opportunities and reduce dependency - essentially inspiring them to be their best.

Designed and built by Bromford’s experienced in-house construction team. Bromford's MyPlace schemes provide well-appointed, self-contained one bedroom apartments for people with long term conditions.

This model not only uses its 50 years of experience to enable adults to live independently and fulfil their aspirations but it also:

  • Has been developed to fully respond to the personalisation agenda
  • Can operate without additional revenue support from the local authority
  • No HCA grant funding required
  • Represents a significantly cheaper alternative to residential care
  • If used strategically, could represent an overall saving to the local authority.

With customers in mind

The self-contained apartments provide a springboard to enable you to blossom and flourish in a safe and secure space.

We have a housing enabler on site most days to help with any tenancy related issues and to help coordinate visitors and care providers. Importantly, you have your own front door, your own space and a tenancy agreement that gives you the rights and protection we all take for granted.

A community hub with a lounge, meeting room and kitchen not only provides a social area for customers living in the scheme, but it also has facilities to deliver training, employment advice and activities to both customers and the wider community.
