“Hi, I’m here today to show you how to isolate your water and find out if you have a leak.”

“First of all you need to locate you stop tap which is usually found in your kitchen under you sink, or it can be located in a downstairs toilet or downstairs cubby hole, or if you live in a flat it can be located outside in the communal area, your stop tap should look something like this.”

“Once you’ve located you stop tap, in this case it’s under the kitchen sink, you’ll need to turn it clockwise, until it won’t go anymore, once you’ve done this turn your taps downstairs to check that you’ve turned the water off, you may still find that water comes out, that’s normal that’s just water in the pipes making its way down.”

“If you need to turn your water back on, you need to make sure all your taps are turned off, then you’ll need to turn your stop tap anti-clockwise until it won’t go anymore, once you’ve done this turn you water on to check that its working properly, you may find that the tap spits, but that’s normal that’s just air in the pipes making its way out, if you can’t find your stop tap then ask your neighbour as your stop tap may be in the same location as yours.”

“Alternatively you may find that you have a switch to turn your water off, it should look something like this, you’ll find this located in the vicinity of the sink on the wall, to turn it off simply push it into the off position and it’ll turn your water off.”

“Once you’ve followed these steps you may need to contact us, some like myself, could come out and do the repair on your property, you can contact us by following the information below.”
